Steps to Take in Cases of Cyberbullying or Grooming

What to do in cases of cyberbullying or grooming

When cyberbullying or grooming is suspected or confirmed, the first step is to listen to the child without interrupting or judging, and assure them they did the right thing by telling you. Next, it's advisable to document the available evidence (screenshots, usernames, dates) before blocking the aggressor, since blocking first can make that information inaccessible. The next step is to report within the platform and, if the situation involves an adult contacting a child or serious threats, report it to the competent authorities without delay. Throughout the process, keeping the child informed in an age-appropriate way about what's happening, without excluding them from decisions that directly affect them, helps them not feel they've lost control of the situation.
