Privacy on Social Networks and in Games

How to protect your privacy on social networks and video games

Privacy means deciding who can see your information, your photos and what you post, and on social networks or video games there are special settings, called privacy settings, that let you choose for only your real friends or your family to see your profile, instead of leaving it open for any stranger in the world to look at. Many platforms come set up more openly by default than they should be, so it's a good idea for an adult to help you review those settings together as soon as you create a new account, instead of leaving them as they were at the start without checking them. For example, in an online game you can choose not to show your location to other players, or on a social network you can hide your friends list so nobody you don't know can see whom you talk to, small decisions that help keep your digital life much safer and just for the people you trust.
