Governance Framework, Roles and Responsibilities (RACI)
How to define clear security roles with RACI
A security governance framework defines who decides, who carries out and who must be informed about each aspect of protecting the organization, and the RACI matrix, which identifies who is responsible, who approves, who is consulted and who is informed, is a simple tool for making this explicit instead of assuming that "someone else has it handled". This clarity matters enormously during a real incident, when ambiguity about who authorizes an action can cost valuable hours while the problem gets worse. A common example of poorly defined governance is when nobody knows whether the decision to publicly disclose a data leak belongs to legal, communications or general management, causing delays that are later interpreted as a lack of transparency toward customers and regulators.
