Fake Websites and Typosquatting
Fake domains that imitate the brand to deceive
Typosquatting consists of registering domains nearly identical to a legitimate brand's, taking advantage of common typing errors or small visual variations, such as swapping an "o" for a zero or adding a hyphen between words. These fake sites usually copy the exact design of the official page to steal credentials or card details, or simply redirect traffic to fraudulent advertising, taking advantage of the fact that the user barely notices the difference in the address bar. For a brand, the real risk isn't just losing visits, but a customer being scammed while believing they're interacting with the real company, which later translates into complaints, loss of trust and even lawsuits if the fake site ended up distributing malware under the corporate name.
