Brand Impersonation and Fraud

Fake Profiles on Social Networks

Fake accounts that impersonate the brand's identity

Fake profiles on social networks copy the name, photo and even the posts of a real corporate account to deceive followers, offer nonexistent promotions or request personal data while posing as the official customer service. This type of impersonation is especially damaging because it exploits channels where users already let their guard down, expecting to interact casually with the brand, and sometimes they get more engagement than the real account if it isn't verified or doesn't post often. Detecting and reporting these profiles in time, as well as keeping official accounts verified and active, helps customers clearly distinguish which channel is legitimate before sharing sensitive information with an impostor.
