Good Practices on Corporate Devices and BYOD

How to take care of the device you use for work

Whether the company gives you a dedicated device or you work from your own device under a BYOD policy, there are basic habits that protect both corporate information and your personal peace of mind. Keeping the device locked when you're not using it, even at home, avoiding installing software without checking where it comes from and not plugging in unknown USB drives are simple measures that reduce much of the everyday risk. On corporate devices, respecting the restrictions the IT department imposes, even if they're sometimes inconvenient, has an underlying reason: those settings exist because someone already analyzed the specific risks of your role. In the case of BYOD, understanding what the company can see or control on your own device, usually limited to a separate work app or profile, helps you use it with confidence without feeling you're losing personal privacy. In both cases, reporting any sign of malfunction immediately keeps a small problem from escalating without anyone noticing in time.
