Updates and Patches on Remote Devices
Why keep work devices up to date
When you work outside the office, your device is no longer constantly connected to the corporate network that used to apply updates and security patches almost invisibly for you. That means part of that responsibility now falls on your own habits, such as not indefinitely postponing update notices for the operating system or work apps, even when they appear at an inconvenient moment during a busy workday. Every pending update is a known security flaw that remains open, and attackers often take advantage of precisely that window of time in which remote devices take longer to receive patches than those in the office. Many organizations use remote management software that pushes updates automatically, but when that doesn't happen, regularly checking for and applying updates yourself is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your work device.
