Using the Corporate VPN
What connecting through a VPN is for when working
The corporate VPN creates an encrypted tunnel between your device and the company's internal systems, so even if you're connected from home or a café, the traffic travels protected as if you were physically inside the office network. This is especially important for accessing internal systems that should never be directly exposed on the internet, such as file servers or administrative applications, since the VPN acts as an additional barrier against anyone trying to intercept that connection. A common mistake is connecting to the VPN just fifteen minutes before a specific task and disconnecting the rest of the time, when the recommendation is usually to keep it active throughout the remote workday, following the organization's policy. It's also worth remembering that the VPN protects the connection but doesn't replace other precautions such as up-to-date antivirus or being wary of suspicious emails, so it's still one more piece in a set of good practices, not a single solution.
