Risks Specific to Teleworking
Threats specific to working outside the office
Working from home or anywhere outside the office suddenly removes several layers of protection we normally don't even notice, such as the monitored corporate network, physical control over who enters the building or technical support just a few steps away. Instead, we depend on a home network that may never have been configured with security in mind, on personal devices mixed with work, and on our own attention to detect fraud attempts without the immediate backing of an IT team. Added to this, teleworking encourages distraction and haste, ideal conditions for falling for a well-disguised phishing email or sharing a file through the wrong channel. Understanding these risks isn't meant to create fear, but to help you consciously rebuild, in your own space, some of the protections the office offered automatically, such as a secure network, verification habits and knowing whom to notify if something goes wrong.
