Requirements Mapping and Management

Managing Multiple Regulatory Frameworks at Once

Operating under several standards without duplicating effort

It's common for an organization to have to comply with several regulatory frameworks at once, for example ISO 27001 for commercial certification, GDPR for handling data of European citizens and a local sector regulation, and managing this without a unified approach leads each area to work in isolation, duplicating evidence and controls for requirements that are fundamentally very similar. The practical solution is to build a common control framework, often aligned with a standard such as NIST CSF, and map each applicable regulatory framework against that single set of internal controls, so that a single piece of compliance evidence satisfies multiple external requirements at the same time. This unified management also makes it easier to prioritize efforts when two frameworks require slightly different things for the same control, making it possible to always implement the stricter of the two instead of maintaining parallel versions of the same process.
