Offboarding Management
Recovering Corporate Assets and Devices
Recovering devices at the end
Besides revoking digital access, offboarding must include the physical recovery of every corporate asset handed out during employment: laptops, phones, access cards, authentication tokens and any device that may contain the organization's information. A device that isn't returned, or is returned without its content being properly wiped, represents a data leak risk that persists long after the person stopped working there. This process should be coordinated in advance between HR and IT, verifying on a joint checklist that every asset handed over at the start of employment is actually returned, and that recovered devices go through a formal secure wiping process before being reassigned to another employee.
