Phishing Simulations and Their Training Value

Why companies simulate phishing

Many organizations send simulated phishing campaigns to their own employees, not to punish whoever clicks, but to realistically measure how prepared the human team is against a real attempt. The training value lies in the moment after the click: whoever falls for the simulation immediately receives an explanation of which signs they should have noticed, turning the mistake into concrete learning instead of a sanction. Seeing these simulations as an opportunity to practice, and not as a trap to point fingers, significantly improves their effectiveness. Organizations with the best results usually repeat these exercises periodically, varying the simulated techniques, since detection ability degrades over time if it isn't constantly reinforced.
