Playing and Learning Safely
How to enjoy games and apps without taking risks
Playing video games, watching videos or using educational apps can be lots of fun and can even help you learn new things, but to keep it safe it's worth following a few simple habits, such as only using apps an adult has checked or downloaded, and not clicking on windows that suddenly pop up promising prizes or free levels. Those pop-up windows are often traps to get you to download something harmful onto the device or to share information without realizing it, so if something looks strange or too good to be true, the best thing is to close that window and ask an adult before touching any button. Playing safely also means taking care of how much time you spend in front of the screen and letting people at home know which games or apps you're using, so the whole family can enjoy technology together without nasty surprises.
