How to protect your virtual meetings from intruders

Video calls became a central part of remote work, and with them came risks that didn't exist before, such as outsiders slipping into a meeting through a carelessly shared link or a room without a password. Setting up a waiting room, requiring an access password and avoiding posting the link in open channels are simple measures that drastically reduce the chance of someone uninvited hearing the company's confidential information. It's also worth checking what you're sharing on screen before starting, because it's easy to forget a tab with emails or sensitive documents open in the background while sharing your entire desktop. Another important nuance is checking who's still connected before discussing sensitive topics, since sometimes a participant forgets to leave or stays connected from an unidentified device. Recording meetings also involves responsibility, so it's best to always let participants know and store those recordings only in the spaces authorized by the organization.
