Regulatory Compliance Indicators and Dashboards
Visualizing the real state of compliance
A regulatory compliance dashboard translates the scattered status of dozens of controls and requirements into a small set of indicators that let leadership and process owners understand at a glance where the organization stands, without having to review each individual piece of evidence. Useful indicators include the percentage of controls in compliant status, the number of active exceptions and their age, the average time to close non-compliance findings and the coverage of evidence collected automatically versus evidence that still depends on manual processes. In practice, the most common mistake when building these dashboards is to show only the overall compliance percentage, an aggregate figure that can hide a completely unmet critical requirement behind dozens of minor requirements in good shape; a well-designed dashboard makes it possible to break things down by regulatory framework, business area and severity, so that the conversation with leadership focuses on what really represents risk.
