Malware and Ransomware Prevention on Work Devices

Layers of defense against malicious software

Preventing malware and ransomware on work devices combines multiple layers of defense, such as next-generation antivirus software, email and web filtering, file execution restrictions and user training, to reduce the likelihood of an employee unintentionally running a malicious file that encrypts or steals corporate information. Its practical relevance is high because ransomware remains one of the costliest threats for companies, capable of paralyzing entire operations within hours by encrypting critical files and demanding a ransom to recover them. An important nuance is that no single layer is enough on its own, since an antivirus may not detect a new variant, but if there are also recent backups and network segmentation, the impact of a successful infection is limited to an isolated device instead of spreading across the whole organization.
