Security Continuity during Transformation

Maintaining Security Controls during the Transition

Sustaining key controls throughout the change

During an organizational transformation, existing security controls risk being put on hold while the team's attention is focused on the change project, leaving monitoring gaps or unapplied patches precisely when the environment is most unstable and most attractive to an attacker. Keeping these controls active means explicitly defining which security processes can't be interrupted under any circumstances (patch management, event monitoring and incident response) and assigning clear owners to sustain them even if the rest of the team is focused on the transition. This matters because attackers know the pattern of organizations lowering their guard during big changes well. A practical example is assigning a person dedicated exclusively to reviewing security alerts throughout a migration, while the rest of the team carries out the technical project.
