Secure Integration of Infrastructure and Systems
Connecting networks securely after an M&A
Once the deal is closed, connecting two organizations' infrastructure is one of the riskiest moments of the whole process, because networks with different levels of segmentation, different identity providers and different patching policies are combined under business time pressure to show synergies quickly. Secure integration prioritizes first establishing a controlled bridge, with segmentation and reinforced monitoring, instead of merging directories or opening network routes en masse from day one. This reduces the chance that an undetected weakness in the acquired entity spreads to the main network. In practice, many teams choose to keep both environments isolated for months, connected only through a small set of validated services, while security controls are harmonized and critical systems are migrated as planned.
