Security in the Hiring Process

Background Checks and Identity Validation

Confirming identity and background

Verifying that a candidate is who they say they are, and that their employment and academic history is genuine, is a basic but frequently underestimated layer of protection during hiring. This includes confirming identity with official documents, contacting previous employment references directly instead of just reviewing recommendation letters, and validating certifications or academic degrees when the role warrants it. For more sensitive positions, it can also include reviewing criminal or financial background, always within the legal framework applicable in each country. This process isn't meant to create distrust toward new employees, but to reduce the likelihood of bringing on someone with malicious intentions or relevant background the organization didn't know about when making the hiring decision.
