Access Management during Restructuring Processes

Access control in the face of staff changes

During a restructuring, the volume of role changes, transfers between areas and staff departures grows far above the usual pace, and with it the likelihood of access being granted that no longer matches a person's real function. Managing this securely requires an agile privilege review process, ideally automated, that revokes access at the moment of the role change and not weeks later when someone notices the inconsistency in an audit. The practical importance is direct: accounts with privileges accumulated from previous roles are one of the most exploited vectors in insider incidents, whether through human error or deliberate misuse. A common example is an employee who moves from a technical area to a sales area and keeps administrative access to critical systems they no longer need for their new position for months.
