Email Phishing
How email phishing works
Email phishing is still the most common social engineering vector: messages that impersonate a bank, vendor or coworker, asking you to click a link, download an attachment or confirm details "urgently". They often imitate the design of well-known brands quite faithfully, but give themselves away through signs such as slightly altered sender domains, writing errors, generic greetings instead of personalized ones, and links whose real destination (visible when hovering over them) doesn't match the text shown. Faced with any email asking for an action with unusual urgency, the safest thing is not to click the links in the message and instead go directly to the official website by typing the address in the browser, or contact the organization through an already known channel.
