Privileged Session Monitoring
Recording and watching critical access in real time
Privileged session monitoring logs and, in many cases, records in real time everything that happens during a session of a user with elevated permissions, such as an administrator connected to a production server or an external vendor with temporary access to a critical system, making it possible to review exactly which commands were run and which data was touched. This matters in practice because privileged accounts are precisely the ones that, if misused or compromised, can cause the most severe damage, and without detailed visibility into their activity an organization only learns of abuse after the damage has already been done, not as it happens. A concrete example is an external technical support vendor granted temporary access to a system, where monitoring makes it possible to detect in real time whether that access is used for something other than the authorized task, and also leaves recorded evidence useful for a later forensic investigation if a contractual dispute arises.
