Evolving the Model in Response to New Threats and Technologies
Updating Zero Trust for a changing environment
Zero Trust isn't an architecture you implement and forget, but a model that must constantly evolve to respond to emerging threats, such as attacks that abuse artificial intelligence to automate vulnerability reconnaissance, or to technological changes such as the massive adoption of non-human identities in automation and container environments. In practice this means periodically reviewing access policies, incorporating new telemetry sources and adjusting risk thresholds as the organization's work patterns change, for example when new SaaS tools are adopted or the use of IoT devices expands. A concrete example is the adjustment many organizations had to make when remote work became normal, where policies originally designed for occasional access from outside the office had to be redesigned to treat that scenario as the norm and not the exception.
