Risk Assessment When Adopting New Technologies

Analyzing risk before adopting technology

Adopting a new technology, whether an artificial intelligence tool, an additional cloud provider or a low-code platform, brings business benefits but also risks that are rarely visible until the tool is already in widespread use. Assessing that risk early means reviewing where data is stored, which certifications the vendor holds, how access is managed and what dependencies the organization creates on a third party. This analysis should be done before signing contracts or before a business area adopts the tool on its own, because reversing an already widespread adoption is much costlier than stopping it in time. A frequent case is employees' unauthorized use of artificial intelligence assistants, who end up sharing sensitive company information with an external service without a data processing agreement in place.
