Roadmap toward Greater Maturity
How to plan the SOC's growing maturity
No SOC is born mature, and trying to implement advanced threat hunting or full automation from day one usually ends in an oversized project that collapses for lack of solid foundations. A maturity roadmap, supported by models such as SOC-CMM, makes it possible to map what stage the team is really at, from simple log collection without effective correlation to the ability to anticipate threats through predictive intelligence, and to plan investments in the order that generates the greatest impact. In practice, the most frequent mistake is skipping stages: buying an expensive SOAR when manual response processes aren't even documented, or trying to automate use cases that still generate too many false positives to trust them without human supervision. A well-built roadmap sets measurable milestones every six or twelve months, reviews progress with real operational data and adjusts priorities according to which detection gaps proved costliest in the previous period.
