Detecting Misconfigurations
Finding configuration errors in time
Misconfigurations are consistently the main cause of security incidents in the cloud, more than software vulnerabilities, because each cloud service has dozens of security parameters that must be configured correctly, and it only takes one being set wrong to create serious exposure. Detecting them in time requires continuous scanning tools that automatically compare the environment's real configuration against a set of best-practice rules, alerting immediately when something deviates, instead of relying on periodic manual reviews that come too late. This matters because in the cloud configuration changes happen constantly and in a decentralized way: any engineer can modify a network rule in seconds. A typical example is a firewall rule that allows administrative traffic from any internet address, created temporarily for a test and never reverted afterward.
